My Musical Journey
The Evolution of Abijossy: A Gospel Music Journey
From the vibrant streets of Nigeria to the diverse music scene in Canada, my journey as Abioye Joseph, known to many as Abijossy, has been a remarkable testament to faith, perseverance, and purpose. Affectionately called the Amuludun of Canada, I have had the privilege of using gospel music to touch lives, inspire hearts, and bring people closer to God. My story is more than just about melodies and lyrics—it’s a spiritual journey fueled by a deep sense of calling.
Early Inspirations and Beginnings
Growing up in Nigeria, my love for gospel music was sparked in church. Singing in the choir as a child, I felt a deep connection to the music, and I knew from a young age that this was my purpose. The church was where I honed my skills, where my passion was nurtured, and where I realized the profound impact that music can have on people’s lives. With each song I sang, I felt closer to my mission—to inspire others and lift their spirits through the power of gospel music.
Breakthrough Moments
In 2015, I released my debut album, Joy Cometh, which became a pivotal moment in my journey. The album wasn’t just a collection of songs; it was a personal testimony of faith, filled with messages of hope, encouragement, and God’s unwavering love. Joy Cometh spoke to the hearts of listeners, and it set the stage for my future in gospel music.
Since then, I’ve released several other albums, including Olowogbogboro, The Breath, Ogo (Glory), and Iwo. Each project represents a chapter of my story, blending traditional gospel sounds with modern influences. These songs are not just performances; they are extensions of my faith, each one crafted to uplift and inspire.
My Vision: More Than Music
For me, gospel music is more than just a genre—it’s a mission. I believe that through music, we can share God’s love, provide comfort to the weary, and offer hope to those in need. Every lyric I write and every note I sing comes from a place of deep conviction. My goal is always to create music that speaks to the soul and resonates beyond the moment.
In addition to my music, my ventures such as Abijossy Lens and Abijossy Technologies have allowed me to explore my creativity in other fields. Whether through photography or technology, I strive to inspire people and leave a lasting impact on the world around me.
Sharing Stages with Legends
Throughout my career, I’ve had the honor of sharing the stage with some of gospel music’s finest, including Prof Psalm Ebube, Tosin Bee, Laolu Gbenjo, Dresticks, and Toluwanisings. These moments have been both humbling and inspiring, as I’ve learned from these incredible artists while also sharing my unique voice. Every performance is a chance to connect with the audience on a deeper level, and I always aim to leave them with a message of hope, faith, and joy.
The Journey Continues
Now based in Canada, my mission remains as strong as ever. While my journey has taken me from the local churches of Nigeria to international stages, my heart is always focused on using gospel music as a tool for healing and hope. Each new song I write, each performance I give, and each project I embark on is a continuation of this incredible journey of faith.
My musical journey is far from over. As I continue to evolve as an artist and person, I remain dedicated to spreading the message of God’s love. My music is a reflection of the hope I carry and a beacon for those seeking light in dark times. Thank you for being part of this journey with me, and I look forward to what lies ahead.
